Macro Photography

Macro Photography is a close up photography. The classical defination is that the image projected on the 'film plane' (i.e. film or digital sensors) is close to the same size as the subject.

I edited this image by making the contrast greater and adding a vignettes. This has made the image more dramatic and bolder.

Highly Reflective Subject



Here is the set up for my Reflective Image, I used a soft box above and below the subject. For my subject I used a pefume box that was highly reflective making it difficult to light.

Location Photography

Sodium Lighting (Street light)
For my street lamp image I photographed the back of a car covered in snow. The sodium light makes the snow appear a yellow colour and brings out the texture of the snow.

Incandescent Lighting

Incandescent lighting is a regular house hold bulb which gives off a yellow/orange glow.

To show my incandescent lighting I used a household lamp and light my dog showing the effects the colour of the bulb does to even a dark black colour.

Halogen/Tungsten Lighting (Site Lampwork lamp)

Halogen light is produced by an icandescent filament lamp placed in a quartz capsule containing halogen gas. These lamps radiate white light and are the best type of artificial light for producing holograms that can be viewed with thite light.

For my Halogen lighting I used a garden light with a plant underneath to show the shadow and highlights created by the light.

Honeycomb Filter

The honey comb filter has brought out the texture and colour of the bottle. I think that the shadows casted by the light have made the image appear dramtic. This is my favorite image as it shows the costmetic product clearly.

Soft Box

The soft box has given the image the most equal lighting around the bottle. It shows the blue clear and makes the glass shine. The is a slight shadow on the right which if I had used a reflector would of helpoed prevent this.

Beauty Dish

With the beauty dish working alone Ihave found that the image is too bright on one half casting a shadow. The bright lighting does make the bottle look clean and pretty like a costmetic product should.

I found that the beauty dish made deep dramtic shadows around the back and top of the purfume bottle.The soft box lights up the front and inside of the perfume bottle. I think this is a good image but not right to light a cosmetic product.
